Etola Companies – Etra Logistics Centre 540 kWp solar power plant with flat roof

On the roof of Etola Companies’ Etra Logistics Centre in Hämeenlinna, Finland, there is a 540 kWp solar power plant that produces renewable solar electricity for the logistics centre’s own use.

Etola Companies has been very progressive when it comes to solar power, and in Hämeenlinna solar power has been used for almost 15 years. Finnwind Oy delivered the first smaller solar power plant on the roof of the logistics centre already in 2010. At that time, solar power was still very rare in Finland and considerably more expensive than it is today. In 2016, the price level of solar power plants had already fallen and the solar power plant was expanded by 270 kWp. The solar power plant was expanded to its current size in 2023.

The solar power plant has been implemented as a floating weight-based installation with a weight-based FS-M solar panel mounting system. A noteworthy feature of the installation system is that the profiled pipes are 65 mm away from the roof surface, allowing water to run freely on the roof. The profiled pipes are integrated into large-surface-under-floor ballasts, which minimises the load on the roof.
