A 500 kWp solar power plant on the roof of Lidl’s distribution center
In 2018, Finnwind installed a 500 kWp solar power plant on the roof of Lidl’s distribution center in Järvenpää. The solar panels on the warehouse roof are securely attached to the building’s load-bearing steel beams. The solar power plant on the office roof section, on the other hand, is securely attached to the roof slab.
By securing the system directly to the roof structure, several advantages are achieved, including a 10% increase in energy output. In floating ballast-based installations, the mounting angle of the solar panels is typically set at 15 degrees due to wind load considerations. By attaching the system to the roof’s load-bearing steel beams or the concrete slab, wind loads on the solar panels can be effectively managed, allowing the panels to be installed at a more efficient angle for better energy production. Additionally, improved cooling of the solar panels and reduced snow coverage further enhance energy production.
